Finding the Right Toy Hauler for Your Toys

When shopping for a toy hauler RV, you want to be sure you choose one that can accommodate all of your fun recreational toys. Not only do you need to be conscious of the length of toy haulers compared to the length of your toys, but you need to choose one that can handle the combined weight of all that you plan to load into its garage. We've compiled weights and measurements of the most common recreational toys to help you in finding the right toy hauler for your toys.

How Big Are The Toys?

The most common outdoor recreational toys we see being loaded into toy haulers are snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATVs, SSV, and dune buggies. They all vary in size and weight, so we've included the smallest and largest measurements for each type.

Snowmobiles can be really long and heavy! The smaller, youth-sized ones weigh in at close to 150 lbs. and measure about 72”L x 35”W x 31”H. The bigger utility models are closer to 500 lbs. and measure around 135”L x 50”W x 51”H.

From roads to dirt trails, motorcycles are everywhere. Kids’ dirt bikes weigh about 160 lbs. and measure 67”L x 31”W x 39”H. Larger bikes, such as tricycle motorcycles, can weigh as much as 900 lbs. and measure around 105”L x 99”W x 61”H.

ATVs vary greatly in size! Small, kid-sized ones weigh around 250 lbs. and measure 60”L x 35”W x 37”H. Large utility ATVs can weigh 800 lbs. and measure 94”L x 46”W x 44”H.

Side by Sides

A larger ATV that accommodates 2 or more people, side by sides can get pretty big. The models that are built for two people can weigh up to 1,300 lbs. and measure 118”L x 59”W x 72”H. The bigger ones weigh around 1,500 lbs. and measure 150”L x 59”W x 76”H.

Dune Buggies

Dune buggies can range in size depending on how big of a roll cage it has. The smaller one-person models weigh in at 175 lbs. and measure 53”L x 31”W x 37”H. The larger buggies weigh around 1,500 lbs. and measure about 165”L x 78”W x 80”H.

Toy Hauler Garage Sizes

While the width of most toy haulers is between 7.5-8 feet, the length can be anywhere between 8-18 feet! The most popular toy haulers have garages that are 10-14 feet long and can usually accommodate most toys. Which one you choose will depend on what you plan to load inside for your extreme outdoor adventures. Garages also have weight limits, so pay close attention to how much weight each toy hauler can handle. Compare the cargo weight limit to the total weight of your toys to make sure you do not exceed it. Safe travel should be your first priority!
